How we Worship

Our Sunday worship time is special to us and has two very important parts, communion (which we refer to as the Breaking of the Bread) and the “worship service” (which we refer to as the Family Bible Hour).

Communion

Every week we find it valuable and strengthening to begin our Sunday worship by remembering our Lord’s sacrifice for us as He commanded. While the bread and the cup are symbolic in meaning, the remembrance of His offering for us and what that means for us brings our lives and this world into the perspective of His ongoing plan of redemption for mankind.

During the “Breaking of the Bread” one of our men will make a short introduction to this meeting, directing our thoughts to some aspect of His sacrifice for us. After this, all men are invited to stand up and share verses and additional thoughts and/or offer a prayer of thanksgiving.

Then we celebrate the Lord’s supper by partaking of the bread together and the cup as it is passed.

Family Bible Hour

This meeting, after the Breaking of the Bread, continues our Sunday worship and is what most churches refer to as the worship service. This is where we are led in worship by our praise group and then our pastor, or one of our men, brings us a message from the Word of God.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
